eduroam (education roaming) is a wireless LAN roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. Launched in 2003, it now spans 101 countries worldwide as of May 2024.

Users can connect to Wi-Fi at any eduroam-participating institution around the world using their home institution account (username@domain) — no additional configuration needed.

Authentication Architecture

eduroam uses a hierarchical, distributed authentication architecture. User credentials are verified by the home institution's RADIUS server (Home IdP), ensuring that personal information is never exposed to visited institutions.
